DEMAC, the Diaspora Emergency Action and Coordination initiative (read more here), is looking for a Platform Coordinator and a Field Coordinator to consolidate and further develop DEMAC as a permanent platform – a one-stop-shop – for enhancing mutual knowledge and coordination between diaspora humanitarian actors and the international humanitarian system. Over the next two years, DEMAC will focus on developing replicable approaches and structural changes through 1) providing further insight into current modalities of diaspora humanitarian interventions; 2) conducting a series of workshops for diaspora organizations and institutional aid actors to address identified gaps in knowledge and capacity regarding principles, systems and mechanisms that govern provision of aid on both sides; and 3) developing recommendations, resources and tools on means and methods for improved operational and strategic communication and cooperation between diasporas and institutional actors.

DEMAC will work in 3 selected case countries (TBD) throughout the two years, as well as in two new emergencies.

To implement, we have opened two positions:

1. The DEMAC Platform Coordinator, who will lead the overall implementation of DEMAC from an “HQ position”, ensuring progress against goals, accountability and compliance vis-à-vis donors, M&E, etc. Please find the announcement and more information here.
