Humanitarian HR: Building Trust in People in Organisations and in the Sector

Today, many aid organisations recognise the importance of accountability to affected populations, staff and donors. Yet in practice, this is not always easy to achieve. How can we, as humanitarian HR professionals, be at the forefront of driving positive culture change within our organisation?

This question will be the heart of this year’s HHR and the conference will focus on building trust in people, in organisations and in the wider system.

Together, we will:

  • Understand the concept, principles and benefits of “High Trust” workplaces for the humanitarian aid sector
  • Share case studies and lessons on how organisations build and repair trust levels;
  • Discover the role leaders and HR should play in the creation of open, transparent, honest and dialogue-centred cultures;
  • Explore incorporating Code of Conduct and other people management policies as the means of sustaining trust;
  • Develop actions in building team awareness and alignment around the value of trust.

As a result of the conference, you will be able to:

  • Understand and use good practice people management practices as foundational elements of your organisation;
  • Define key steps that HR professionals and leaders can take for re-wiring their organisations to build accountability and trust.

Call for Session Proposals

The 2019 HHR will have the opportunity to schedule around 12 workshops and we encourage organisations to submit a session proposal. Your input will ensure that the Conference Planning Committee considers a broad and rich spectrum of topics around the overall conference theme.

To submit a session proposal, please use our online submission form. To learn how to fill the online submission form, please consult the session proposal quick guide.
